Re: Debugging DHCP

You should disable the DHCP service and restart it after making changes. The changes will not apply if DHCP is still running.
Also, you should have it working with the latest nonOS SDK now I guess.

Re: UART1

Are you able to send characters to UART1 directly using uart1_write_char function?

Re: UDP performance

Are you using the AT firmware? Or code running on ESP8266 itself ?
The AT firmware would be a bit slow, but 200ms is a lot.

Re: I cannot make ESP8266 restart with a different binary

Which SDK version are you using? The latest seems to work just fine with this.

Re: Exception (29): epc1=0x4000e1c3 excvaddr=0x00000018

Exception 29 means that you are writing to a location where you should not be writing data. Maybe check where you are writing the data when this happens?
You can trace evc1 and the instruction that caused the error by looking at the .S output listing of your application.

Re: RTC and RAM support

The ESP8266 does include low power RAM, which works in deep sleep mode as well.
But there is no RTC to keep track of time-of-day. Also, there is no separate power rail for battery backed RAM (it is just intended to keep data during deep sleep mode).

Re: GPIO0 and GPIO2 flashing / gpio_init() mystery

The gpio_init() is not required anyway, you can skip it. And you are getting the flashes because GPIO0 outputs 40 MHz clock signal when the ESP8266 is booting. So you may have a dimly lit LED on boot. The initial state of GPIO after booting can be set by the bootloader or "boot.bin". You c...

Re: I2C LCD1602 NONOS SDK

The Device is just an IO expander (look at the chip part number). So you just have to implement the same stuff that 4 bit parallel does. But you have to use I2C to send the 4 bit states. And PCF8574 library for nonOS SDK will work just fine. Not sure there is one that works with the LCD. But should ...

Re: Nonos SDK based HTTP server

The Open SDK is the same as Espressif nonOS SDK. Just that it compiles in any Linux environment.
You can still use esphttpd in Lubuntu development environment. But it cannot serve files are there is no ESPFS implementation.
But you can use SPIFFS + esphttpd in Lubuntu. SHould work fine.
