I suspect that the ESP is running some other software, not the 'standard' AT command firmware,
because on power-up it creates a WiFi AP without being told to do so...

I have an ESP8266 connected to a terminal program on my PC.

The only message I see is this:

Code:

 ets Jan 8 2013,rst cause:2, boot mode:(3,6)

load 0x40100000, len 25700, room 16
tail 4
chksum 0x0b
load 0x3ffe8000, len 848, room 4
tail 12
chksum 0x3f
ho 0 tail 12 room 4
load 0x3ffe8350, len 184, room 12
tail 12
chksum 0xb7
csum 0xb7

This is transmitted at a baud rate of 74880. No other communication is possible.

What is causing this? I haven't written anything to the chip - it is as supplied to me.
