You could try command "AT+CWAUTOCONN=0" to disable the auto-connect.

Thanks for your interest in ESP8266 !

I have a mesh network of ESP devices, but I can't figure out how to turn off automatic connections to an access point. When I use my ESP device to connect to another ESP device, and I cancel the connection, it automatically attempts to re-connect. If the previous device is on, it will connect to the AP. I imagine its a very helpful feature for some.

Is there a way to turn this off? I want to be able to connect, disconnect, and then stay disconnected to an access point.
