The ESP8266-RTOS-IDF is not formally released but here is a git for the latest work being done.

https://github.com/espressif/ESP8266_RTOS_SDK/tree/release/v3.0

I have a LWIP issue using the binary-blob ESP8266-Rtos V2.0 so I'm attempting to port my project over to the new IDF which gives me complete control over the LWIP implementation.

As a side note -- I implemented ESP32-IDF development on Windows using Visual Studio -- see link below.

I removed the global ENV variable IDF_PATH and added an export line to each of my ESP32 or ESP8266 projects so that the variable IDF_PATH points to the proper location.

End result -- a nice Windows development for all ESP products now.

Initially I thought the component config menu would allow me to remove specific components from the build process.

Example - I don't use SSL, MQTT, etc

I was disappointed to find that to build a project - all of the components I have no interest is still need to be compiled.

I request that the MenuConfig process provide a simple component selection page -- there by making builds faster and easier to find where one component may be dependent on another component's build.

Is there a way in the short term to address this?

What if I just removed the component folders thereby negating that part of the build? Not a long term solution because it does not allow component selection by project.

Thanks.

Joe
