Re: are you improving forced light sleep?

@eriksl: do you have any reference for this? I have seen mentions more around 60 seconds and longer.

Re: Can we determine SDK version at compile time?

It's available at run-time: system_get_sdk_version();

For Esprunio users there's:

Code: Select all

>ESP8266WiFi.getState();
={
  "sdkVersion": "1.4.0",
  "cpuFrequency": 80, "freeHeap": 1520, "maxCon": 5 }

Re: Migrating applications from SDK 1.3 to SDK 1.4

I found one issue: prior the SDK 1.4 the scan results had a bogus 0-th entry, this got fixed in SDK 1.4. Maybe I overlooked that in the release notes? But I am still puzzled why the SDK prints "bss" in one case and "ssid" in the other...

Re: Migrating applications from SDK 1.3 to SDK 1.4

I also have a problem like this. I am switching between two very different firmwares that both use SDK 1.4. In both cases I am using the same esp-12 module (4MB flash) and I flashed a fresh bootloader 1.4, fresh blank.bin, and esp_init_data_default. In order to switch between the two firmwares I sim...

are you improving forced light sleep?

I find that the current forced light sleep (wifi_fpm_*) is disappointing because awakening is too expensive in terms of power usage. Specifically, the fact that the wifi MAC layer starts a fresh association at start-up is totally killing the power budget and is unnecessary. Please consider that ther...

Re: Specify DNS Server in SoftAP mode

What you're asking for is how to set the DHCP options sent to the clients and I don't see a way to do that. Even if you did, what would you set the DNS server to? There's a wifi_softap_set_dhcps_offer_option() function in the SDK, but I don't think that does much useful to you.

Re: 关于休眠功耗的处理

You have to be careful, there are now two slightl different light sleep modes. There is the automatic light sleep mode selected by wifi_set_sleep_type() and there is the manual light sleep mode set via the new wifi_fpm_*() functions. With the manual light sleep mode you have to turn wifi off, so you...

Re: wifi_fpm_do_sleep crashes

The new library with the new wifi_fpm_set_wakeup_cb() call works, thanks!

Re: wifi_fpm_do_sleep crashes

So wifi_fpm_set_wakeup_cb is a new function in the attached library? It wasn't documented in the SDK 1.4.0 Programming Guide? You write "If ESP8266 entered the light sleep mode, it needs to be waked up via external GPIO", this is in contradiction to the SDK Programmng Guide description of ...

Re: wifi_fpm_do_sleep crashes

Sorry for the many posts, but I'm trying out different combinations. I changed the code further and now have: wifi_station_disconnect(); wifi_set_opmode_current(NULL_MODE); os_delay_us(1000); os_printf("Sleep!\n"); os_delay_us(600); wifi_fpm_set_sleep_type(LIGHT_SLEEP_T); wifi_fpm_open(); ...
