OTA upgrade is not fail-safe

I am testing how robust the OTA upgrade is. I am using my own upgrade server (i.e, I am flashing the next partition myself) and I'm using the system_upgrade_flag_set(UPGRADE_FLAG_FINISH) and system_upgrade_reboot() once that's done. For a test I uploaded a garbage binary into the next partition and ...

Re: Help - Latest SDK not sending TCP GET request as it used

Are you aware of the fact that the semantics of espconn_sent changed between 0.9.3 and 1.0?

Does the esp8266 SDK 1.0.0 respond to 802.11 RTS frames?

I'm seeing my AP send RTS requests to the esp8266 and I'm not seeing the expected CTS responses. Here is an example of sending the esp an ICMP PING: - 18:fe:34:9c:cd:43 is the esp - 00:02:6f:ae:ec:a1 is the AP (an Engenius ECB9500) - f4:6d:04:ed:62:ca is a linux box sending the pings What you see is...

Re: Proposal to SDK changes

Yup. I would say that the SDk has too many functions that are solutions and too few that are building blocks.

Re: Multiple issues with wireless connectivity

The fact that you only capture ARP packets makes it difficult to tell what's going on. Would be better to also capture any packets to/from the esp's mac address. As-is, one can't tell when pings succeed (nor why), 'cause there is no ARP response for .3 visible anywhere.

Re: Testing Current Consumption using datalogger....

Another interesting question is how much the power consumption depends on wifi activity. What I mean specifically is how much power is consumed by the reception of packets that are *not* destined to the esp8266. Clearly the radio has to receive and decode the packets in order to determine that they'...
