SDK 1.4 issue os_zalloc

Hi Up to now, various SDKs have been drop-in and recompile - this time with 1.4 I get an error when compiling this (which sadly I did not write so I don't want to mess it up). void ICACHE_FLASH_ATTR QUEUE_Init(QUEUE *queue, int bufferSize) { queue->buf = (uint8_t*)os_zalloc(bufferSize); RINGBUF_Init...

RAM SIZES

Question... I think I now have it clear in my head (someone please confirm) which type of RAM is used for what! Here's one of my compiles. PWM stop issues

The Espressif PWM works great - very good for RGB 12v LEDs with the addition of 3 MOSFETS - however, when you set the PWM to off - ie all zero values, this does NOT stop the PWM from running. If you try to do anything time-sensitive like RGB serial LEDs you cannot - they will mess up as presumably, ...

RESET = Rarely....

I cannot quite get to the bottom of this but there is something wrong with the reset.. else if (strcmp(token, "id") == 0) { if (isQuery) iprintf(RESPONSE,"ID=%s\r\n", sysCfg.base); else if (strlen(strValue)>=2){ strcpy(sysCfg.base, strValue); CFG_Save(); system_restart(); } Here'...

WIFI STATION HOSTNAME DIFFICULTIES

In the SDK: wifi_station_set_hostname wifi_station_get_hostname HOST ID…. If you do an IP scan on a windows network – ESP units will coming up as IP addresses – and Manufacturer ESPRESSIF… there is a WIFI HOSTNAME GET function in the SDK – but not only can I NOT get it to do anything, the correspond...

Re: Use all of the 512 kbyte of the 4M flash

It most certainly does not have to be that way. In our code (http://tech.scargill.net - look up the "Home Control 2015" project) we use a bootloader provided by Richard Burton - and he's also a very helpful chap.. http://richard.burtons.org/2015/05/18/rboot-a-new-boot-loader-for-esp8266/ T...

Re: RTC demo

If it is of interest, I didn't bother with any of this - I ended up having my ESP boards log onto a server whenever they power up (a Raspberry Pi for now) and they are always sent the time as a 64 bit value which they maintain internally in 1 second callbacks. That allows the boards then to know tim...

Re: ESP12E vs ESP12

I THINK you'll find no advantage and possibly less FLASH than ESP-12.

Re: Reading FLASH arrays?

Well Well, it turns out after all of that - that it was just a silly typo - but here's the point, I've then gone on to do further tests with 8 bit arrays in FLASH and you can read individual bytes successfully - that came as a surprise. So now it would seem it is possible not only to move much of ou...

Re: GPIO16 WOES

Thought I'd closed this one off - turns out it was a link on our boards, now resolved. Hence GPIo16 can be used as an output - OR to recover from sleep.
