Re: Help understanding timing related code?

If this wasn't an ESP8266 story but was instead an Arduino story ... would you be able to solve that puzzle? The ESP8266 now has an Arduino environment meaning you can write Arduino sketches and deploy them on the ESP8266. In addition, there are now other languages available including JavaScript, Lu...

Re: task loop

At a guess, I am presuming you are starving the operation of the AT command processor. Rather than immediately sending in a request to start a new task at the immediate completion of the previous task, consider registering a timer that fires some period later ... when the timer fires, that would the...

Re: How to correctly stop a TCP server from listening?

Thank you for the response. This opens up a whole new set of considerations. I think you are telling me that if I configure an ESP8266 to listen on a particular port for client connections then once client connections start to arrive, I can't simply "close" the server listener without firs...

Re: struct espconn and reverse field

I'm starting to get nervous that the "struct espconn -> reverse" property may not be safe for end user applications to store arbitrary pointers of data. Does anyone have any evidence one way or the other whether this pointer contained within a struct espconn can be used for end user applic...

Understanding espconn_recv_hold

I am reading the 1.4 SDK programming guide and am trying to understand the API called "espconn_recv_hold". Would it be possible to get a better explanation of what this API means and how it should be used? My guesses are as follows: Consider an ESP8266 that is receiving data over the netwo...

Meaning of link_cnt in struct espconn

There is a property in struct espconn called link_cnt. Does anyone know what this property means?

How to correctly stop a TCP server from listening?

I am using the SDK to create a socket server within my ESP8266. To accomplish this, I use the SDK API called espconn_accept(). This works great. However, in my application I also want to stop the server from listening ... and this is where I am confused. What API should I use to stop the socket from...

Re: About new ESP-NOW functions on SDK 1.2.0

Is there a design or architecture document/description for ESP-NOW? For example, something that describes the concept of controller vs slave?

Re: how to build a complies environment for the lastest SDK?

Ive had great success building ESP8266 applications using the binary distribution of the build environment following this recipe:

I develop on Windows using Eclipse.

No documentation on spi_flash_get_id

The SDK 1.4 documentation provides a description of an API called "spi_flash_get_id" but does not describe what it returns. I believe that there is "bit encoding" of information but do not know what it should be. This report requests documentation of the meaning of the return val...
