How to do a secure OTA?

Hi, ESP example in their SDK shows an OTA example working with a simple HTTP local server and a GET request example. I would like to implement a process that is more secure (HTTPS, or else?). I am working with Google Cloud as my IoT solution to store my firmware bin images. Does anyone have a way of...

Re: Problem with OTA example

Thanks for your reply AgentSmithers! I was actually just able to figure out what was going on. Turned out that the OTA example provided by ESP works just fine. The issue was coming from the fact that the flash we were using wasn't 4MBytes but 4Mbits... The chip had been selected before I started wor...

Re: Problem with OTA example

Please help... I'm running straight the example from the SDK (even just moved to the master branch and did fetch to make sure I am as up to date as possible)... This is what I get on my monitor console: .[0;32mI (735) ota: Starting OTA example... @ 0x402398a4 flash 1MB.[0m .[0;31mE (735) esp_ota_ops...

Problem with OTA example

Hi, I am trying to implement an OTA in my application and I am using the ESP8266_RTOS_SDK_v3.1 example. I am using the "Factory app, two OTA definitions" partition table. When I run the example, it connects to the local Python HTTP server, and then it calls esp_ota_begin(...) , and within ...

ESP_RTOS_SDK v3.1 => How to get IP address assigned to our ESP?

Hi,

Is there a function somewhere in the SDK (RTOS v3.1) that allow us to get the IP address assigned to our device when it is connected to the WiFi?

Thanks

Re: MQTT reconnect fails

Self-answer here.

The issue came from the fact that I was not doing network.disconnect(&network) after an issue occurred and before I was trying to reconnect to the MQTT client. In the ESP_SDK v2.x.x, they don't show this, but in the version v3.1 they show it properly.

Re: Can't switch from WiFi AP mode to STA mode

I am self-answering myself here. The issue came from the fact that I was not initializing the structure wifi_config_t to 0 (i.e. like this: structurewifi_config_t config = {0}). So because I was then using it and filling the SSID and password, but that the rest was randomly set, it created some issu...

Can't switch from WiFi AP mode to STA mode

Hi, I am using the version 3.1 (the most up to date in the release branch) of the ESP8266_RTOS_SDK. For my project, I start the application by setting the ESP8266 to AP mode, so that I can connect to it with my phone. Then, once I got the network credentials, I want to shut down the AP mode and go i...

MQTT reconnect fails

Hi, I am using the ESP8266_RTOS_SDK_2.x.x version and I connect to my cloud (Google Cloud) using MQTT secured protocol. The flow of functions I call is chronological as follow: 1) NetworkInitSSL() 2) MQTTClientInit() 3) NetworkConnectSSL() 4) MQTTConnectWithResults() 5) MQTTSubscribe() 6) MQTTPublis...
