Solid blue light, Esp not working in normal mode

Postby STcraft » Tue Nov 17, 2015 2:11 am

When i power up my esp, the RX/TX led is solid, and when i connect it to my ftdi, it spams out this message:

Code: Select all

epc1=0x40100088, epc2=0x00000000, epc3=0x00000000, excvaddr=0x00000000, depc=0x00000000
Fatal exception (0):
but it wont do it if i put it in program mode, tried reflashing the same bin (AT v1.1.1.1 Firmware), it works fine, but after i repower it, it does the same (but it spits out gibberish instead of that code). is it a hardware issue or just the firmware? (if there is a fixed version of AT, may i have a link to it? could help in the future, i just got this module, and i dont want it to be ruined already :( )

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Please have a try with the latest AT firmware : http://bbs.espressif.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1123

Use Espressif Official Flash Download Tool to burn the bin files into Flash, according to the "readme.txt".

If your problem is still unsolved, please provide the captured picture of Flash Download Tool while downloading.

Can you try with 8Mbit?
esp_init_default_data.bin to 0xfc000 and blank.bin to 0xfe000

Hello Gaspar,

Which module are your using? If it is the ESP-12 or similar and you have a solid blue light... it is usually a power supply or improper startup issue. The ESP8266 may heat up and draw high current as well.
If any of this happens, please try these two options first:
1. Add a 10 or 22 or 47uF cap very close to the ESP8266 module you are using.
2. Erase the entire flash and reprogram the application.

Fatal exception (0) is very common if the power supply is not good and properly decoupled. Make sure you are using an LDO regulator such as the AMS1117-3.3 to produce 3.3V if input voltage to regulator is less than 7V.

Hi, I had the same problem (together with EFUSE errors in flash download tool). Here I already described how I fixed the problem.
