antenna orientation, modular FCC certification

I have read the WROOM-02 datasheet and find no mention of orientation for best omnidirectional radio function.

To me, it looks like the serpentine antenna might work well if pin GND was towards the earth and pin 3.3v was toward the sky.
If that way, the circuitry and metal can will shade some angles much -- then angles + and - from 180 degrees away from the antenna edge of the board would be shaded...

The other way that could work is serpentine antenna edge of pcb towards sky.

I am making a weather enclosure good for chip radios like the ESP8266 and would like to post an announcement. Is this the right forum for a post about a plastic weather enclosure to use with ESP8266EX? It is called hexrad, and is a kickstarter.com campaign running now? Is there a better place for such announcements?
