80211-s mesh support for ESP8266

Postby Ravikumar » Thu May 05, 2016 5:53 pm

Hi,

I have connected esp-12e module to raspberry pi(with SDIO) and installed esp8086 driver. i got wan0 interface and able to connect AP.

Now i want check 80211s mesh with esp.

i've tried following command and got error.
pi@raspberrypi:~/esp8089 $ sudo iw dev wlan0 interface add mesh0 type mp mesh_id mymesh
command failed: Operation not supported (-95)

Is esp8086/8266 linux driver supporting mesh capabilities?

Sorry, ESP-Mesh is not 80211s.
It is designed and implemented by ESPRESSIF.

I have the wpad-mesh installed, which I guess is enough to support 802.11s secure mesh.
I have tried the same configuration and secure mesh works with wpad-mesh and it is all on a TP-Link Archer C7. The only difference is the wireless driver: ath10k on the TP-Link, mt76 on the ZBT.
