The forum software used to this support web site

Howdy folks,
I am NOT a fan of the forum software used for this web site. It seems to have some crucial features missing:

o No ability to include images when posting
o View of each forum does not list threads by last update
o Email subscription to forum (follow) does not include a link to the new post

I'd suggest examination of a more modern forum package that is more along the lines of what is expected from consumers today.

The current forum software works ... and it "gets the job done" ... but from my perspective, looks and feels and behaves as though it was 2005 and not 2015.

It is causing folks (like me) to want to use the ESP8266 Community Forum (http://www.esp8266.com/). Which is obviously a whole different subject area in itself. If I have an ESP8266 question ... do I post here or at the ESP8266 Community forum?

What can I say!! A mere three days after this post you have dramatically improved the forum.... WOW!!! Maybe my post was co-incidental timing and you had planned this work already ... but if not, if you read my forum post and said "Lets do something about this ..." ... my hat is off to you. Espressif is truly an organization committed to listening to the community.

I just have one complaint over search function, which is the same in previous and latest forum version: Many times I get error

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words:

Which is really, really annoying. I don't care if I get 100 result - this is still less than going through all forums and topics to find what am I interested in.

As example, I cannot search for "boot", "boot version", "new boot problem", "flash size", "flash read fail", "boot flash size",... What can I even search for?


Please make search function behave as normal search function.

You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

Just this. Without any additional limitations and checks

I must agree that I have the same frustration as you when I was trying to search for a "lost post".... just now...

After some tweaks, I seem to be more successful in my searches now. Let me know if you still have any problems.

Thanks for your attention to the forum ... awesome work.

When we look at a forum, we see the threads in the order that they were posted. If someone posts a new topic to the existing thread, the thread stays where it is ... in the thread list order.

What I normally see in other forums is that when someone posts to a thread, that thread shows at the top of the list ... so that the threads are listed in order of last ones posted. This allows me to visit a forum and quickly see what threads have been responded to. As it is just now, I either have to page through all the thread pages looking for ones marked as updated or take notifications on the forums. Would it be possible to see if the forum pages which list the titles of the threads can be sorted in "last updated" order?

Hmm... I always thought that's how this forum works! I created a new user account, clicked on a forum e.g. ESP8266 HDK and I see the topics listed in order with the latest post on top, in this case it's ESP-12 Relay Reset, topic posted on 14 July and last reply on 25 July.

There's also a sort option at the bottom of the page...
So I not sure what's the problem, or could I have misunderstood you?

Thank you admin, I checked again and it is working perfectly exactly as you said it would. Now I feel embarrassed, I am at a loss to explain why I thought it was otherwise. Apologies for wasting your time. I am delighted with the new forum look and feel and appreciate all your work.
