Faulty flash memory? Stucked in ininite loop on startup (blue LED on)

Postby John Miller » Mon Dec 21, 2015 4:07 pm

I think the flash memory of my esp is physically damaged. How can I verify the uploaded firmware against the original?

AT+GMR
AT version:0.40.0.0(Aug 8 2015 14:45:58)
SDK version:1.3.0
Ai-Thinker Technology Co.,Ltd.
Build:1.3.0.2 Sep 11 2015 11:48:04
OK

My Question: How to flash the chip back to the firmware above after an unsuccessful firmware upgrade (Extension for Arduino IDE corrupted something).

Please ignore the red 'fail' error message, I played around with the settings, with 'SpiAutoSet' checked dowloading works.

In operation mode, however, the ESP sends data in an infinite loop which is not to decode. Measured the exact bd rate. Databits=8, SB=1?

Uploading blank.bin to 0x0 does prevent infinite looping.

Any suggestions?
Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Flash size 8Mbit: 512KB+512KB, please download :
boot_v1.2+.bin 0x00000
user1.1024.new.2.bin 0x01000
esp_init_data_default.bin 0xfc000
blank.bin 0x7e000
blank.bin 0xfe000

P.S. boot_v1.2+.bin means the version of boot.bin later than v1.2, we always suggest use the latest version of boot.bin which is boot_v1.4(b1).bin now.

Probally, your Flash memory is good !
Esp Flash download Tool can read the Flash ID code = 4014h

W25Q40BV ( 4 Mega Bits / 512K Byte ) = ID 4013h
W25Q80BV ( 8 Mega Bits / 1 Mega Byte ) = ID 4014h
W25Q16BV ( 16 Mega Bits / 2 Mega Bytes ) = ID 4015h
W25Q32BV ( 32 Mega Bits / 4 Mega Bytes ) = ID 4016h
W25Q64CV ( 64 Mega bits / 8 Mega Bytes ) = ID 4017h
