WROOM-02 Resetting[Done]

Postby java » Fri May 06, 2016 9:41 am

Hello how are you?

I am with the WROOM-02 and when i touch the metal cage with some metallic item it resets. This also happens when I touch the reset pin or any other pin in the module. Are there any hardware considerations to avoid this issue?

Thanks for your attention,

Javier.

Hi Javier,

For EXT_RSTB, in order to avoid reset caused by external interference, the trace of EST_RSTB is generally required to be short, and external RC circuit is recommended and should be placed close to EXT_RSTB pin.

Besides, for relay application and so on, AC Ground and DC Ground should be separated and connected via a wire.

More questions, please let us know.

Thanks.

Hello Kelly, thanks for your comments. The board is powered from a power supply and from a LiPo battery. The issue is present in both power modes. I tried with an RC filter in the EXT_RST pin. Which values of R and C do you suggest?. Any other considerations with the other pins?.
Thanks for you help,

Javier.

Hi,

R=10Kohm and C=10nF for EXT_RSTB is recommended. You'd better also add RC(5K+100nF) in EN pin.

What the maximum output current of your power supply?

BTW, could you please send us the photo of your test environment for checking?

Thanks.

Hello Kelly,

The maximum output current of the 3.3V supply is 1 Amp
Here is a image of the module on the board. When I power the board from a Lipo battery the problem persists
The GND pad on the bottom of the module is disconnected. Could that be the cause of the problem?.

Thanks for your help,

Javier.

Dear,

I met exactly same issues on WROOM-02. Is there a solution to fix it?
I performed following tests without positive results :
- R C on reset PIN
- RC on Enable PIN,
- DC/DC 3V - 500 mA

The module reset when it is powered by external AC/DC supply. The phenomenon disappears when the ground of the module is connected to earth. Moreover, ESP WROOM-02 does not reset with lab power supply.

Thanks
Alexis
