Using USB-serial board with FTDI connection and AccessPort ( http://www.usconverters.com/index.php?m ... &chapter=0 ) monitor no response on AT commands is achieved. The serial board is tested with loopback connection and performs ok.
Connections:
1. 3V3 connected to serial board 3.3V
2. GND connected to serial board GND
3. TX to serial board RX
4. RX to serial board TX
5. EN pin is 3.3V
Only when RST button is pressed is the following result received on the monitor (74880baud):

No response to AT commands.
What can be the issue?

You should probably update the firmware on ESP8266 module that you are using.
Also, please use a 3.3V USB-UART converter. 5V can damage the ESP8266!
