Unable to run IoTDemo on ESP-01 module with 1.4 SDK

I have just downloaded the latest SDK (esp_iot_sdk_v1.4.0_15_09_18.zip). I could not get my software to run so I tried compiling and running the IoT_Demo code. I am using an ESP-01 module with 512K bytes of SPI flash.

The following shows the compilation and loading of the code using the gen_misc.sh script (esptool.py is used to load code once the compilation is complete).

With a serial terminal on the ESP8266 debug (UART1 TXD) all I receive is

Which I believe means code can't be found at 0x00000 or 0x40000 for the bootloader to execute.



I tried the same thing with the 1.2 SDK (esp_iot_sdk_v1.2.0_15_07_03.zip)

and the debug port shows
