Windows 8 does not auto-connect to ESP8266 after boot if there is an Ethernet adapter in the PC

When I connect to an ESP8266 with esp-link firmware in AP mode, Windows 8 shows the WLAN connection is "limited". I suppose that means it offers no Internet access. Regardless of that warning, everything works fine: esp-link on the ESP8266 serves its web pages, such as the microcontroller console, to the PC via 192.168.4.1.

However, after a reboot, Windows 8 does not automatically re-connect to the ESP8266. I suspect that's because the connection was detected to be "limited" - and because Windows finds my Ethernet connection to the router/internet. It seems to think that's enough. If I disable the Ethernet adapter, Windows automatically re-connects to the ESP8266 after booting.

Is there a way to make Windows 8 connect automatically to the ESP8266, regardless of a cable Ethernet connection in the same PC?

I also noted that connecting to the ESP8266 made my Ethernet Internet slow due to a pause before every page - until I manually set the DNS server of the IPv4 connection to the ESP8266 to 127.0.0.1 (ie. until disabling the DNS server of the ESP8266).

I've compile esp-link with Non-OS SDK V1.5.1
