Can I not use the UART port in ESP-WROOM-02D？

I found that my serial port was not enough to use when designing , Can use SPI for instend ? I noticed that the ESP-WROOM-02D had both UART and HSPI port , but there is little information about HSPI for data communication in the technical manual and Community Forum , I'm very upset with the following questions , Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated. 
1: Do ESP-WROOM-02D support for AT commands using HSPI interface ?
2: could I use ESP-WROOM-02D as a SPI-WIFI passthrough device without UART port ?
