Hello...
Is there any means to insert vendor/network specific elements in the beacons? Is wifi_send_pkt_freedom a possible way to achieve this?
Also, how would such vendor elements be accessed when a scan is done, or packets captured in promiscuous mode? If using the promiscuous mode is the size of the captured frame limited to a max of 112 octets? In which case how to receive vendor specific elements which span beyond this limit?

After some experimenting I can see that "wifi_send_pkt_freedom" can be used to set the network/vendor IE in the custom beacon frame. However, it's not the beacon that in AP mode. I may be able to use this for my project needs. However, the receiver 8266 is limited to a total of 112 bytes max, and of which some goes in the mandatory beacon header elements.
So question still is how to receive such a custom beacon that is larger? Is there no way?

I am also interested in thise one.
Is there a way to receive such handcrafted beacon frames using another ESP?
Would be a really neat feature for exchanging (small) Data-Frames between several ESPs
