Hello,

Your toolchain is not configured or maybe not installed at all!
You should get this when you open the terminal and enter

Code: Select all

xtensa-lx106-elf-gcc -v

Expected output:
Untitled.png

Note that the GCC version should be printed as in the screenshot. If you get a "command not recognized" or something like that - you have a toolchain problem!

Thank you. I was using a self-extracted IDE from Ai-thinker ( a esp8266 module vendor). Anyway , I finally managed to compile the smart config in the windows IDE. I decide to forget about the command line tool cause I have no idea how to set up the toolchain. :D

Just in case you did not know, or for other people who are reading this post, you may read the Getting Started guide for ESP8266, where there is a Virtual Machine image link available. The image has Linux OS with ESP8266 toolchain configured already and it will take up like 5 minutes to get things up and running there. :)
Windows is cool as well though!
