SDK 1.1.0 does not boot when 80Mhz SPI clock selected

Postby nver » Tue May 26, 2015 2:00 pm

Hi there,

I downloaded SDK 1.1.0 and it does not boot when I set 80Mhz SPI Flash speed in ROM header. The boot loader get stuck as shown below. It boot fine if I switch back to 40Mhz via ROM header.

This is a new issue in SDK1.1.0 because I have been running flash at 80mhz in SDK1.0.1 without any problem. My application need SPI Flah at 80MHz, please can you look into this as provide a fix/workaround.

Code: Select all

 ets Jan  8 2013,rst cause:2, boot mode:(3,6)

load 0x40100000, len 1396, room 16
tail 4
chksum 0x89
load 0x3ffe8000, len 776, room 4
tail 4
chksum 0xe8
load 0x3ffe8308, len 540, room 4
tail 8
chksum 0xc0
csum 0xc0

2nd boot version : 1.4(b1)
  SPI Speed      : 80MHz
  SPI Mode       : QIO
SPI Flash Size & Map: 16Mbit(512KB+512KB)
jump to run user1 @ 1000

Hi,

No, it does not work with boot_v1.3 either. Also I tested boot_v1.4 with user1.bin from SDK 1.0.1 and it works fine. So looks like its not the bootloader issue.

Thanks

Hi Espressif

Is there any update on this ?

Btw, its not bootloader issue at all, I did another test using non FOTA binaries [eagle.app.v6.flash.bin at 0x0 and eagle.app.v6.irom0text.bin at 0x40000] where we dont have bootloader at all. But these binaries does not boot for SDK 1.1.0 at 80Mhz.

Switching back to 40Mhz work fine.

Please help.

Thanks

Many thanks.
it now works with 80Mhz settings. :)

I still need to test with logic analyser if clock is coming out correctly.

Thanks again for such a quick turn around.

For those of us who have not used patches before here... I have SDK 1.1.0 - and I cannot boot my files either- I just get a constant stream of rubbish out of the serial port.

How do you apply the patch files which I note are libmain_patch_01.a, libsmartconfig_patch_01.a and libssl_patch_01.a

??

Hi

These patches seem to be just new binaries with the fix so what i do is simply rename them e.g. libmain_patch_01.a to libmain.a and replace them in /lib folder.

I confirm they are not patches in the strict sense of the word. Just replacement files.
Greetings.
