Hi, I'm just using the ESP8266 to scan for BSSIDs and not to transmit anything and I'd like to save the power of the calibration on startup.
Is the RF calibration on startup necessary if we are never transmitting anything?

I normally do it but im woundering, any reason why not to? Does it save any resources?

Yes, it draws 300mA peaks during RF calibration which means we need big bulk capacitors (introducing high DC leakage) and a DC converter that supports higher currents (which adds cost and more quiescent current) for a calibration that may be completely unnecessary.
