cannot figure out meaning of "Wrap return “>” after execute"

can someone re-phrase this: "Wrap return “>” after execute"

it is listed in the documention for AT+CIPSEND

I am sending UDP data. some examples I've seen suggest that you first send AT+CIPSEND=5 (if you want to send five bytes)
and then you "wrap return ">") before sending the actual five bytes of data. what.. does... that.. actually.... mean...

Thank you!

ah, never mind, i figured it out.

If anyone else is wondering, what it means "wait until the ESP8266 sends a ">", then proceed and send your data". thanks.
