ESP8266 WiFi AP

Postby radders » Tue Jul 10, 2018 3:56 pm

Hello,
I have a RobotDyn combined Arduino and ESP8266 board:

I have uploaded a sketch to the Arduino which does nothing - it sends no AT commands at all to the ESP.

Upon powering up, the ESP chip is creating a WiFi AP which I can connect to from my phone and laptop.

Does the normal AT Command software in the ESP do this itself, or is this chip running a special sketch?

RobotDyn themselves don't seem to know ;-(

I think it is the ESP8266 that starts an AP itself by default, if you set nothing. And if you set a configuration, it will follow your setting.
