When I use gen_mish.sh I always use (2) as the option for the memory map, but that is 2Mbits.

All of the devices (50 devices) I have, are 32Mbit devices ESP12-F.

How can I generate the program for this devices and what addresses should I use to update the flash when I use the ESPTool?

You mean that you plan to use the rest flash ?
You can build image according to your scenario.
please get detail information with STEP5 when you build image.

Also I always program the four files, according to the instructions at github.

Should I program only the one in the "update" folder when I am updating the device to reflect my changes in the program instead of programming it for the first time with the mesh demo?

user1.bin and user2.bin used for OTA grade.
If you just use esptools to download run image, you don't need care about the user2.bin.

Max Hops:

I understand that now the routing table contains all of the devices in the network if the device gets to know all the topology, so it doesn't grow that much as before depending on the max_hops.

Can I get this number up then? For instance, set 6 or 8 as max hops?

Please set max hop according to your scenario and set it before enable mesh.
