RTC vs deep-sleep[Done]

Postby wdim0 » Fri Jun 17, 2016 3:41 pm

Hi Espressif,

recently, I've experimented with the RTC vs deep-sleep of ESP8266 a lot and it would be good idea and a competition advantage for you, if you decide to include in your next generation chip of 8266 family a dedicated real RTC chip (something like PCF85063 or similar). It would be great to wake up from deep-sleep and still know the exact time (RTC counter is too innacurate and drifts in time or with temperature). Many "data loggers" need this. It would be great to be able to wake-up from deep-sleep in longer periods than 1.19 hours (2^32 values in RTC counter = 4294967295 us = 4294.9 seconds = 1.19 hours).

Thanks for already making an IoT world a better place.

Yes, you are correct. Our next chip ESP32 is doing the exact thing. :D
