Frequent chg_A3:-180 and trouble connecting

We are using the ESP8266 in soft AP mode and most of the time it works very well.

However, occasionally stations cannot connect to the soft AP. Debugging this problem we find that when stations are unable to connect to the soft AP, we see a lot of

messages on the debug UART. When clients can connect normally we do not see this message. What is going on here and how can we fix it or at least detect the trouble condition?
