Can the ESP8266 be used for Wi-Fi Direct?
Postby ScotleCyphez » Thu Jul 30, 2015 12:51 pm
The spec sheets for the ESP8266 say it is 'Wi-Fi Direct' capable. Documentation shows the ESP8266 can easily be used as a soft access point (e.g. AT+CWSAP, etc), however, my company needs a module that follows the Wi-Fi Direct protocol. Can the ESP8266 be used for Wi-Fi Direct? If so, where is the supporting documentation? (Links are appreciated)

Hi ScotleCyphez,
Wifi direct is a communication link(if already paired) between two wifi enabled devices..
there are 3modes in wifi devices
1-client mode
2-rouer mode
3-server mode (Soft AP or combine client+router mode)
AT+CWJAP=3 (this mode will work as wifi direct)
Thanks..
