ESP-Now encrypted Peer limit

Hello
Is the limit of 6 Peers a hard limit dependant on ESP Hardware, or can we increase this if we accept more SRAM to be used by the ESP-Now core? Specifically I'm talking about ESP32, as it should have enough SRAM...
