Maximum size of ESP-NOW transmission?

I am studying the ESP-NOW functions and am specifically reading about esp_now_send(). This transmits a buffer of data. Unfortunately, the documentation doesn't say what the upper limit of the data may be. Is there an upper limit? I am assuming this is a datagram transmission and there is likely to be a limit. If so, what is the actual limit of data that can be sent on a single transmission?

The max length is 256 bytes now.
