Redirect web requests?

Is there a way to redirect any web request to a specific page? For example

Esp8266 is set up as a Ap (station ap)
A client connects and requests a page "www.abcd.com"
Since the device is not yet set up, I want to serve up myserver.local/setup.htm. I would think that you could do this with DNS somehow. Is this possible?

That's not redirecting, that's called a capturing portal. That's quite complex functionality and you won't find it in an esp8266. How about a simple router from the shop? That's what these are made for.
